Transform Your Space: DIY Custom Marble and Wood Side Table Tutorial

DIY Custom Marble and Wood Side Table

What's up, babes? Ready to add a chic and functional piece to your home decor? Today, I'm going to guide you through creating a stunning custom marble and wood side table. This project is perfect for adding a touch of elegance and style to any room. Let's get started!

Materials Needed:

  • 12x24 marble tile (I got mine from Floor and Decor)

  • Leftover stair treads (4 pieces) or 1x8x8 board

  • Wood glue (I used Titebond)

  • Brad nails (18 gauge)

  • Gorilla glue

  • Minwax water-based stain in transparent black

  • Brad nailer

  • Measuring tape

  • Level

  • Sandpaper

  • Protective sealant

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Prepare the Wooden Legs: I used leftover stair treads from my DIY console project (check out that post here). If you’re using a 1x8x8 board, cut it down into four pieces, each measuring 18.5 inches. Sand the pieces to smooth out any rough edges.

  2. Stain the Legs: Apply Minwax water-based stain in transparent black to the legs. This will give the wood a sleek, modern look while still showing off its natural grain. Let the stain dry completely.

  3. Assemble the Legs: Attach the legs together using Titebond wood glue and 18 gauge brad nails. Use a brad nailer for a secure and precise fit. Make sure they are securely bonded and let them dry completely.

  4. Attach the Marble Top: Once the legs are dry, it's time to attach the marble top. Apply Gorilla glue to the top of the legs where they will meet the marble. Align the marble tile (12x24 inches) with the legs and press firmly. Allow the glue to set according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

  5. Finish and Protect: Sand any rough spots and apply a protective sealant to the wood to enhance its durability and shine.

  6. Enjoy Your New Side Table: Place your custom marble and wood side table in your desired spot and admire your handiwork! This elegant piece is perfect for holding a lamp, books, or your favorite decor items.
